Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op – Geotechnical Engineering to join its collaborative team in Salt Lake City, UT. This role provides hands-on exposure to diverse geotechnical projects, including field work, data collection, and calculations, with mentorship from geotechnical leadership.

You will gain experience in site feasibility studies, technical report preparation, pre-construction conditions documentation, and design plans using AutoCAD, while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with Geotechnical coursework preferred.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations planning and execution (borings, test pits, samples).
• Observe construction activities and ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Identify and implement solutions to field or lab problems.
• Prepare field logs, forms, and chain of custody records.
• Conduct site reconnaissance and document searches.
• Learn geotechnical engineering software and perform calculations.
• Prepare report exhibits, figures, and plans using AutoCAD.
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
• Perform other duties as requested.
