Job summary

University of California, Berkeley seeks a Research Associate to manage GEER communications, operations, deployments, education/outreach, and data archiving. The role involves coordinating stakeholders before events, managing virtual communications during reconnaissance, and collaborating with NHERI DesignSafe and partners.

The position supports SAGs, virtual reconnaissance, and field deployment teams to ensure efficient data collection, indexing and dissemination of findings to advance hazard

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of professional or research experience collecting, processing and analyzing geotechnical and/or geospatial data.
• Demonstrated experience with project management and data management practices.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience with geospatial data analysis and field data collection.

Responsibilities

• Extreme Event Response - support GEER during and after events; ensure data is made available through GEER and partners.
• Data Generation and Dissemination - create AI-ready datasets to advance hazard research and science.
• Outreach and Communication Strategy - lead GEER outreach, manage the website, newsletter, and events.
