Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Charlottesville, VA and Cary, NC locations. Responsibilities include monitoring construction activities and testing soils, concrete, and asphalt materials. A company truck, phone, and safety equipment will be provided at our office.

Responsibilities include performing density tests, sampling aggregates and concrete, and potentially asphalt sampling and core tests. Field work under varied weather and site conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• Will train candidates with some construction-related work history.
• Basic math and writing skills required.
• Background report/background check will be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method.
• Aggregate Sampling; Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling including air content, slump testing, and core samples.
• May perform asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring.
