Job summary

NV5 seeks a Senior Engineering Technician in Charlotte, NC (also open to Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, and Burlington). The role involves monitoring construction sites and performing testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials. Company truck, phone, and safety gear provided.

Responsibilities include in-place density testing, aggregate and concrete sampling, and potential asphalt work. Physical demands include lifting up to 50–100 pounds, long hours, and outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in field testing or construction materials testing.
• Basic math and writing skills required.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as a team player.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR is required.
• Offer contingent on background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform In-Place Density Tests using nuclear gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone.
• Conduct Aggregate Sampling and Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling and testing.
• Possible asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and long hours; stand/walk long periods.
