Job summary

Langan is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join its Syracuse NY team. You will plan and execute field investigations, log borings and test pits, monitor foundation and earthwork construction, and help prepare logs and geotechnical reports for large-scale projects.

The ideal candidate has a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering degree, 1+ year of experience, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required.
• Master’s degree with Geotechnical specialty or pursuing it preferred.
• 1+ years of work-related experience.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• PE preferred, EIT Certification, or current registration for FE exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and recording data.
• Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities; monitor conformance with construction documents.
• Identify and implement solutions to both routine and complex field/lab problems.
• Prepare logs and field forms including drilling/test pit logs and chain of custody.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and document searches.
• Document and communicate problems encountered on project sites to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as requested.
