Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager

Job Posting: Geotechnical Engineering Project Manager

Sage Geotechnical is a geotechnical engineering firm in Tumwater, Wash. We are a small firm dedicated to serving our long‑term clients. We pride ourselves on our responsiveness, technical expertise, and determination not to make big problems out of small ones.

We’re hiring a PM to manage geotechnical projects from proposals through final reports, providing engineering recommendations, overseeing field and lab work, and coordinating with clients and project teams.

What you bring
  • Abachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in geotechnical consulting or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The attention to detail needed to document field activities, observations, and test results in concise logs/reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS mapping.
  • The ability to work independently at jobsites and to communicate effectively with subcontractors and construction foremen/superintendents.
  • The ability to work in our Tumwater office and on job sites. (Relocation assistance available or signing bonus negotiable.)
  • A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record for travel to and from job sites.
  • The ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
What you’ll do
  • Proposals, design work, and technical reports.
  • Development and tracking of scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Geologic and geotechnical analysis and basic calculations.
  • Fieldwork including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, infiltration testing, mapping, and site observations.
  • Construction observation and documentation.
  • Client communication

  • The approximate starting wage will be $45.00-$60.00 per hour, based on qualifications.
