Job summary

The Geotechnical Engineering Superintendent at Jerritt Canyon is a key technical leader responsible for building and leading the geotechnical function for a complex underground and surface mining operation in Nevada.

The role provides strategic oversight of ground control, risk management, mine restart readiness, and operational support while partnering with Mine Engineering, Operations, Geology, Safety, Maintenance, and site leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geological/mining/geotechnical engineering.
  • 10+ years of underground mining experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership of geotechnical or technical services teams.
  • Advanced understanding of underground ground control, rock mechanics, and risk management.
  • P.E. licensure preferred.
  • Experience with numerical modeling tools such as FLAC3D, RS2, Map3D.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the geotechnical engineering team.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence
  • Align geotechnical priorities with production, restart, and long-range planning objectives
  • Mentor, coach, and develop geotechnical engineers and technical personnel
  • Lead through challenging technical conversations with clear communication
  • Serve as the principal geotechnical advisor to mine leadership
  • Manage the site's ground control management plan (GCMP)
  • Oversee geotechnical monitoring, analysis, and reporting programs
  • Drive innovation with data-driven decisions and continuous improvement
  • Develop geotechnical standards, procedures, and best practices
