Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotech Engineering Manager to lead and execute geotechnical investigations and design for power-related projects, including transmission lines, substations, and renewables.

The role emphasizes management of projects, client communication, and staff mentoring, with opportunities to contribute to business development and staff growth in a dynamic team. Travel to field sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• Master’s degree a plus.
• PE license required.
• Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals and cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and related design work.
• Participate in geotechnical site investigations, assign geotechnical laboratory tests, analyze field and lab data, and prepare investigation reports.
• Interpret and analyze geotechnical data to establish type, classification and engineering characteristics of materials.
• Complete geotechnical engineering analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation capacity, seepage, and slope stability.
• Manage, supervise, mentor, and train other geotechnical staff, fostering a learning culture.
• Create and update design standards, processes, and training content.
• Manage geotechnical project scope, schedule, budget, and invoices.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding project progress.
• Participate in business development activities related to geotechnical engineering.
• Foster relationships with clients and internal teams in geotechnical projects.
