Job summary

State of Maine is seeking an entry-level geotechnical engineer to support design and construction of transportation structures. The role involves subsurface exploration oversight, lab testing program development, and evaluating geotechnical conditions for bridge projects.

Initial duties include field monitoring, preparing design reports, and collaboration with project teams. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and Engineer Intern certification are required or anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field.
• Non-degreed candidates must possess Engineer Intern Certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect subsurface exploration programs.
• Develop lab testing programs and evaluate subsurface conditions.
• Develop bridge foundation alternatives and identify geotechnical aspects.
• Prepare geotechnical design reports and calculation packages.
• Perform periodic field work to monitor subsurface exploration and assist construction teams.
