Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to infrastructure and development projects. Based in Welkom with remote work options, you will lead investigations of subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and slope stability.

You will analyze soil and rock mechanics data, use PLAXIS or GeoStudio, interpret CPT/SPT data and lab results, and prepare comprehensive reports with design implications.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization.
• At least 6 years of geotechnical investigations and design experience.
• Proficiency in PLAXIS and GeoStudio.
• Strong knowledge of soil, rock mechanics and hydrogeology.
• Experience interpreting CPT, SPT and lab test data.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations, including soil and rock sampling.
• Analyze geotechnical data using software and lab results.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls and earth structures.
• Assess seismic hazards and provide seismic design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients and project teams to communicate findings.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical codes and industry standards.
