About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their esteemed team in George . This role focuses on providing expert analysis and design solutions for a variety of foundation and earthworks projects across the region. You will play a crucial role in assessing ground conditions, mitigating geological risks, and ensuring the stability and safety of diverse construction projects. Working within a collaborative environment, you will leverage your technical expertise to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions, contributing to the successful delivery of significant developments in the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations, including site characterization and soil/rock mechanics analysis.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and slope stabilization measures based on site-specific conditions.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for construction and risk mitigation strategies.
• Oversee and interpret in-situ and laboratory testing programs for soil and rock samples.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and construction teams to implement foundation designs effectively.
• Perform geotechnical risk assessments and advise on potential ground-related issues for new projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• A Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as Plaxis, SLOPE/W, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
