General Responsibilities:

The Pittsburgh office is seeking a mid-to-senior level engineer to provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. Responsibilities include performing and leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations; designing and developing plans and specifications; observing and inspecting projects; and preparing and reviewing reports. The role involves reviewing drawings and construction to ensure compliance, preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking project progress, researching design and construction issues, and evaluating laboratory or field data. The engineer must apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Services may span sectors such as public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow safety rules, participate in pre-task planning, and report safety issues.
  2. Monitor and improve quality standards on projects.
  3. Ensure consistent quality in project and proposal delivery.
  4. Manage detailed phases of projects with moderate complexity.
  5. Perform projects or segments independently.
  6. Plan, schedule, and coordinate project work.
  7. Collaborate with senior project managers for larger projects.
  8. Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations.
  9. Prepare proposals and reports of varying complexity.
  10. Conduct quality control reviews of proposals.
  11. Evaluate laboratory and field data for reports.
  12. Serve as a technical adviser to junior team members.
  13. Interact with clients and project teams to develop scope and communicate progress.
  14. Write detailed engineering reports.
  15. Participate in marketing and business development.
  16. Supervise engineering staff and field personnel.
  17. Work under supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
  18. Begin mentoring and certification processes for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  2. 5-8 years of experience minimum.
  3. Master's degree preferred.
  4. Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  5. Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
