Job summary
SSR Mining Inc. is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine in Colorado to independently assess and mitigate geotechnical hazards supporting safe open pit and valley leach pad operations.
You will work with operations, drilling, processing and other technical teams to evaluate risks, develop mitigation strategies, and improve ground control through data analysis, monitoring and software tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomechanics, Geological Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years’ experience in mining operations or geology.
- 3+ years’ experience with Leapfrog, Point Studio, RocScience Suite, and MinePlan or similar software packages.
- Python experience preferred.
- Core logging experience.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, writing and consultation skills.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate geotechnical risks and opportunities.
- Geotechnical core logging and sampling to determine rock mass strength.
- Perform slope stability and rockfall hazard analyses.
- Ensure highwall monitoring systems and TARPs are implemented and maintained.
- Coordinate drilling campaigns to map underground workings and assess voids.
- Mentor department personnel and communicate risks to decision makers.
