Job summary

CDM Smith in Atlanta is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our Infrastructure Services team. You will develop designs for foundations, dewatering, dams, and geo-environmental projects under general supervision.

Travel up to 40% may be required; you will review designs for regulatory compliance and contribute technical papers for publication. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Geotechnical/Civil/Mining Engineering, strong communication skills, and be prepared to work collaboratively

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Designs basic to moderate engineering projects (foundations, dewatering, dams/levees, geo-environmental) under supervision.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Performs site reviews, soil sampling analyses and modeling as needed.
• Contributes to technical papers and designs for journals; may create conference materials.
