Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Piscataway, NJ or New York City, NY. The position is expected to start in June 2027 and involves learning and applying geotechnical engineering in a collaborative team setting.

You will assist in data collection, design calculations, and reporting while working under experienced engineers to develop analytic and design skills across typical geotechnical projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Master’s of Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
• EIT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Builds analytic and design skills under supervision.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and geotechnical reports under supervision.
• Collects and analyzes data under supervision.
• Performs Geotechnical investigations in the field and describes soil/rock samples.
• Creates soil profiles based on data from subsurface investigations.
• Uses software for foundation, retaining wall and slope stability analyses.
• Works within budget and schedule under supervision.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
