Job summary

The Washington, DC office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to join our geotechnical practice. The role offers hands-on field and analytical work, development of technical skills, and a collaborative team environment in a well-established, employee-owned firm.

You will gain experience with GIS/GPS, logging borings, coordinating field tests, and preparing field reports while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field.
• Willingness to travel and perform field work, including long assignments away from the office.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, self-motivated attitude.

Responsibilities

• Use GIS and GPS to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field work.
• Log test borings and oversee subcontractors including drillers and traffic control.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS; review laboratory tests and geotechnical reports.
