Schnabel Engineering’s Rockville office is seeking an Entry-Level Staff Engineer to join our geotechnical practice. This role focuses on developing both field and analytical skills while contributing to project teams in earth and environment disciplines.

You will gain hands-on field exposure, perform boring logs, assist in geotechnical reports, and support construction observation, with mentorship and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geology or related field required.
• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude.
• Willingness to perform field work, travel, and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Use GIS and GPS to aid planning and execution of geotechnical field work.
• Log test borings.
• Oversight of subcontractors including drillers and traffic control.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Assign and review laboratory tests.
• Perform calculations to support geotechnical designs.
• Provide support on preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals.
• Observe geotechnical-related construction and perform materials testing.
• Plan and coordinate geotechnical and materials testing field work.
• Prepare field reports and review geotechnical materials testing reports.
