Job summary

Schnabel Engineering, Richmond, VA office, seeks an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to grow in geotechnical field and analytical work. You will develop field and analytical skills, collaborate with a strong team, and progress with mentorship while contributing to projects across the earth and environment specialties.

You will engage in field work, data collection, analysis, and report preparation, with opportunities for rotation between field sites and office tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to perform field work and travel.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Use GIS and GPS to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field work.
• Log test borings and oversee subcontractors, including drillers.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Assign and review laboratory tests and perform calculations.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and proposals and observe field testing.
• Coordinate geotechnical and materials testing field work and prepare field reports.
• Review geotechnical and materials testing reports.
