Job summary

Schnabel Engineering’s Rockville, MD office is seeking an Entry-Level Staff Engineer to join our geotechnical practice. This role develops both field and analytical skills, with training on geotechnical investigations and reporting while collaborating with a strong team.

You will support field programs, learn to perform tests, and contribute to geotechnical analyses. Travel to job sites and a commitment to safety are expected.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and strong work ethic.
• Willingness to perform field work and travel, including extended assignments.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and pass background/drug screens.

Responsibilities

• Use GIS and GPS to aid in planning and conducting geotechnical field work.
• Log test borings and oversee subcontractors like drillers and traffic control.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Assign and review laboratory tests; perform calculations for geotechnical designs.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and proposals; observe construction and perform materials testing.
• Plan and coordinate geotechnical and materials testing field work; prepare field reports.
