Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Texas team and lead the technical execution of geotechnical projects across Texas. You will report to the Regional Manager of Geotechnical Engineering Services and work closely with our Vertex team throughout the state.

The role requires a Texas PE license (or ability to obtain), 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, and strong knowledge of soil mechanics and site investigation techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and carry out geotechnical investigations and supervise geotechnical designs.
• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including field exploration.
• Perform foundation, settlement, bearing-capacity, slope-stability, retaining-wall, and earthwork analyses.
• Provide recommendations for shallow and deep foundation systems and ground improvement.
• Provide construction-phase support and QA/QC for geotechnical issues.
• Develop recommendations for geotechnical instrumentation installation and monitoring.
• Travel to project sites for site investigations and fieldwork as needed.
• Review lab results and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success.
