Actalent is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer in Birmingham, AL, to provide technical expertise in geotechnical analysis, design, and field investigations while supporting project management and client delivery. The role blends office work with field leadership to develop practical, constructible solutions for foundations, slopes, and earth retention systems.

You will contribute to technical reports, collaborate with structural engineers, and help deliver projects on time and within budget.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology.
• 0–4 years of professional geotechnical experience.
• EIT or GIT certification in Alabama or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with foundations, slope stability, settlement and earth retention.
• Ability to perform geotechnical calculations and interpret subsurface data.
• Knowledge of construction materials testing and ASTM standards.

Responsabilidades

• Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slope stability, settlement and earth retention.
• Develop project lifecycles: investigation plans, scopes of work, task coordination.
• Manage project budgets and schedules to meet milestones.
• Lead field activities: borehole logging, drilling oversight, data verification.
• Observe earthwork and foundation placement for design compliance.
• Support construction materials testing and inspection per ASTM standards.
• Use geotechnical modeling software to evaluate soil behavior and design performance.
• Prepare and coauthor geotechnical reports with findings and recommendations.
• Communicate findings clearly to clients and teams.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate with colleagues to meet deadlines.
