CTL Engineering in Cincinnati seeks an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer (EI) to support geotechnical explorations and investigations for diverse projects. You will work with project teams and clients to deliver customized studies, reports, and practical solutions throughout the land profile evaluation process.

Responsibilities include site characterizations, lab test coordination, design development, and ensuring quality control.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience.
• EI certification preferred; obtain within six months of hire.
• BS in Civil Engineering; MS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design development and analysis of earth embankments, retaining structures, and anchoring systems.
• Perform analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability.
• Monitor and enforce quality control standards and specifications.

We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer (EI) who will play a key role in performing geotechnical explorations and investigations for our clients. You’ll leverage your expertise and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies, Architects, Engineers, Developers, and project teams to deliver customized geotechnical studies, reports, and solutions. Highlights:

• Interesting projects ranging from infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and “one-off”/unique engineering.
• Projects are typically located in the SW Ohio, northern Kentucky, SE Indiana region – typically within a 60-90 mile radius of the Cincinnati office - but no/very rare overnight travel is the norm.

Responsibilities:

• Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, and risk evaluation on developments.
• Ability to work independently on broad projects with oversight/supervision by the Dept. Manager.
• Providing direction on a project-to-project basis – i.e. preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
• Interacting with clients on technical aspects of the projects.
• Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
• Assisting in planning and the execution of subsurface investigation programs - including the understanding of project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, coordinating underground utility clearance.
• Design development and analysis of earth embankments, earth retaining structures and anchoring systems.
• Performing analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability evaluations.
• Monitoring and enforcing quality control standards and specifications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read design drawings.
• Ability to meet schedules.
• Experience with common geotechnical software or be able to utilize software with minimal training.
• Self-motivated, reliable, quality minded, and detail oriented.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Require 0-3 years’ experience.
• Engineering Intern (EI) certification preferred. Successful candidates who are not currently certified will be expected to obtain their EI certification within six (6) months of hire.

Education:

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to travel, and be physically able to maneuver on open terrain. .
