Job summary

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. in Providence, Rhode Island is seeking an early-career Geotechnical Engineer (0–5+ years) to join our team. The role spans field and office work on infrastructure, real estate, and energy projects, with mentorship and varied responsibility.

Responsibilities include field tasks, subsurface exploration oversight, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should have a geotechnical-focused civil engineering degree, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work both

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus; Master’s preferred
• 0 to 5+ years of professional work experience
• Effective communication, problem solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and operate field equipment

Responsibilities

• Perform field tasks and assist with the technical execution of projects
• Oversee subsurface exploration and in-situ testing programs to evaluate soil and bedrock conditions
• Conduct on-site construction oversight and inspections for earthwork projects and density testing
• Perform field construction observation for foundations and underground construction tasks
• Evaluate field data and perform engineering analyses such as slope stability and bearing capacity
• Draft field and engineering reports and prepare technical documents
• Prepare construction cost/quantity estimates
• Assist with submittal reviews and RFIs during construction
• Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and project teams
