Job summary

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to support our geotechnical engineering practice in Providence, Rhode Island. The role involves fieldwork at project sites and environmental sites, with in-office duties between projects.

You will collect data, perform sampling, and assist with engineering deliverables, mentored by experienced professionals. Travel to local project sites is required.

Qualifications

• 0–5 years relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
• Ability to travel locally to various project sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform field tasks and assist with the technical execution of projects.
• Field oversight and logging of subsurface explorations and classification of soil and bedrock in connection with foundation design and construction projects.
• Perform soil and groundwater sampling for geotechnical and environmental analyses.
• Perform concrete sampling and testing in accordance with ACI standards and project-specific requirements.
• Perform on-site construction oversight and inspections for earthwork projects, including in-place density testing of compacted soils using a Troxler nuclear moisture-density gauge.
• Gather data and other information to be used in the preparation of engineering deliverables.
• Prepare engineering inspection reports summarizing data collected in the field.
• Compile and organize data collected by others.
• Conduct field and office QA/QC responsibilities.
