Job summary

Exponent Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate in our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Atlanta, GA. The role involves inspecting, analyzing, and evaluating geotechnical systems and preparing repair concepts as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct field work, perform analyses, and contribute to peer reviews and client relations. A Ph.D./MS in geotechnical geosciences with relevant experience is required, with PE licensure targeted within four years.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering or MS with 5 years' experience.
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in 4 years.
• Geology/Geological Eng, GIS, groundwater hydrology, or structural eng coursework is a strong plus.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with client relations potential.
• Attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to lead
• Ability to work independently or support multiple group projects with engineers and clients
• Synthesize information from field work, documents, and interviews and communicate conclusions

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations.
• Perform geotechnical and civil engineering analyses.
• Assist with peer review of design and construction of geotechnical systems.
• Prepare conceptual designs for repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
