What You Will Do

GFT is seeking a talented Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in our Valley Forge, PA office. This is a hybrid position, reporting 3 days onsite.

Joining the geotechnical, dams, and hydraulics team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. Our team excels in dams and levees, advanced water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and conveyance, collection, and transmission. We focus on integrating technology, sustainability, and compliance to protect public health and improve quality of life. What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

The Geotechnical Engineer will assist in planning and oversight of subsurface explorations and perform analyses for transportation, facilities, water resources, and other projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform geotechnical calculations and designs for various projects, including foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, seepage studies, etc.
  • Assist in preparing reports, geotechnical correspondence, design and construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Plan and execute subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.
  • Conduct subsurface investigations, site reconnaissance, and data collection activities.
  • Provide geo-construction observation during construction phases.
  • Travel as needed to other offices, client sites, or project locations, including overnight stays.
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of geotechnical experience, particularly in subsurface exploration and geotechnical design.
  • Interest in geotechnical engineering demonstrated through coursework, internships, or work experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent field observation and data documentation skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons, lift 30 pounds, and traverse rough terrain.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical focus.
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • E.I.T. certification.
  • Experience with geotechnical software like SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3, gINT.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range is $77,000 - $90,000, dependent on experience and location. Benefits include hybrid work environment, comprehensive insurance, 401(k), PTO, tuition reimbursement, professional development, and incentive compensation.
