Job summary

Atlas, a trusted environmental and infrastructure consulting leader, seeks an Engineer (EIT) to join its Geotechnical and Construction Materials Testing team. You will assist field investigations, lab testing, and report preparation while working toward PE licensure under senior mentorship.

Expect regional travel and exposure to highway, municipal, and utility projects. Prefer ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree with 1–3 years geotechnical/CMT experience, EIT or FE in progress, and

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical emphasis preferred).
• 1–3 years of geotechnical and/or CMT experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or FE passed and pursuing EIT.
• Working knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO/TxDOT testing standards and methods.
• Strong communication skills for technical report writing and collaborating with teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and execution of geotechnical field investigations including soil borings, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform materials testing and QA/QC for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate on active projects.
• Coordinate with drilling crews, technicians, and construction personnel to meet schedules and quality standards.
• Log and classify soil and rock samples per ASTM/AASHTO standards; oversee lab testing.
• Prepare geotechnical data and engineering reports under licensed PE supervision.
• Travel 50–75% of the time to project sites; support design tasks for foundations, earthwork and pavement.
