Job summary

PEC is seeking a Driller Assistant to support geotechnical drilling operations in the field. You will assist the Driller, project engineers, and field crew with drilling, polling, sampling, and well construction tasks across various sites.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, ability to travel 75% of the time, and adherence to safety protocols. A High School diploma and HAZWOPER certification are preferred, with opportunities for hands-on training and advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification preferred.
• Experience with hydraulic systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Driller and Field team with drilling and sampling of geotechnical test borings.
• Load/unload drilling equipment and materials.
• Maintain safety paperwork and daily reports.
• Monitor drilling equipment and perform basic maintenance in field and shop.
• Ensure proper labeling and handling of bags/cores.
• Attend safety meetings and follow client safety standards.
• Assist in rigging up/down and moving to new drill locations.
• Complete site inspections and maintain inventory of parts.
