Job summary

GTA is seeking a Geotechnical Driller for our Sterling, VA office. You will perform geotechnical and direct push explorations using Geoprobe, hollow stem auger, and mud rotary methods, while operating and maintaining drill rigs and documenting boring logs.

The role requires five years of geotechnical drilling experience, a valid driver’s license, OSHA awareness, and the physical ability to lift heavy loads and work in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of geotechnical drilling experience.
• Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• OSHA training preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform repetitive motions.
• Work in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain.

Job description

GTA is currently seeking a Geotechnical Driller for our Sterling, VA office.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical and direct push "Geoprobe" explorations and well installations using hollow stem auger and mud rotary methods.
• Operate and maintain drill rig equipment on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Document geotechnical boring with daily logs.
• Maintain a clean and hazard‑free work area.
• Operate within state and local regulations.

Requirements

• Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Five (5) years of geotechnical drilling experience.
• OSHA training and ability to maintain rigs preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions such as lifting, hammering, reaching, climbing, crouching, stooping, crawling, kneeling, and sitting.
• Physical capability to lift 60 pounds regularly and move 80 pounds or more occasionally (e.g., a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).
• Work in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain, including undeveloped wooded areas.
