Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking a Geotechnical Driller Helper for its Woodbine, MD office. The role involves assisting geotechnical drill rig operations, understanding hollow stem auger and related techniques, and supporting project work across MD and DE.

Will train a good candidate with reliability, a strong work ethic, and readiness to travel. We offer a starting rate of $20–$24 per hour, plus a signing bonus and performance-based incentives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to meet additional pre-employment requirements.

• Strong work ethic, team player attitude, responsible, and reliable.
• Must be able to work out of town when needed.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
• Clean and maintain company vehicle, drill rig, and equipment.
• Work closely with site leadership to ensure that scope of work is met timely and in accordance with safety standards.
• Produce daily reports and boring logs.
• Company-provided training and mentoring to expand skills and certifications.

Your Role

Hillis-Carnes Engineering is actively seeking a Geotechnical Driller Helper for our Woodbine, MD office. The ideal candidate should have an in-depth understanding of the geotechnical drill rig operations and drilling techniques, but willing to train a good candidate. Candidate needs to be reliable, motivated, possess a positive attitude, and have a good work ethic. Experience with Hollow Stem Auger and Casing Advance Drilling, Mud Rotary Drilling, Split Spoon and Shelby Tube Sampling, and Rock Coring. Projects will be primarily located in MD and DE with the possibility of work in other states.
