Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) in Blacksburg, Virginia is seeking a Design Engineering Geologist to engage in geo-structural engineering projects. This office-based role focuses on geotechnical investigations and geological risk evaluations, requiring collaboration with an engineering team to develop geo-structural design solutions.

The successful candidate will collect geologic data, conduct research, and manage geotechnical instruments. A Bachelor’s degree in Geologic Science and excellent communication skills are crucial, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification for geologic licensure via FE or GIT certifications.
• Complete a 4-6 week capstone field camp as part of the academic curriculum.
• Proficient in managing geotechnical and geophysical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and interpret data for geotechnical studies and site investigations.
• Perform desktop-based geologic research and organize data analyses.
• Interface closely with project-level and senior leadership personnel.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Experience supporting construction-phase services

Education

Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Geologic Science

Master’s degree or upper division coursework in geotechnical engineering
