Job summary

NWU in Spokane Valley, WA is offering an internship for students pursuing a civil engineering degree. You will assist in geotechnical characterization programs, prepare reports, and help develop foundation design drawings and specifications under senior engineer guidance.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with geotechnical data processing and design recommendations for shallow and deep foundations, while learning DB and EPC delivery methods in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field with focus in structural design.
• Completed coursework in geotechnical, structures, concrete, and steel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and executing geotechnical characterization programs.
• Assist in preparing geotechnical characterization reports.
• Assist in preparing foundation design drawings and specifications.
• Assist in geotechnical data processing and data analysis.
• Assist in analysis and development of design recommendations for shallow and deep foundations.
• Participate in developing cost estimates and project documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
• Perform basic research and prepare reports or presentations as needed.
• Attend team meetings and learn about design-build (DB) and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) delivery methods.
