Job summary

GEI is seeking a motivated civil engineer for its Portland, OR office to support complex projects across Northern California and the United States. The role involves field exploration, design calculations, and technical documentation for levees, dams, bridges, and more.

The position emphasizes collaboration with senior staff, field work up to 50%, and travel to project sites. A BS in Civil Engineering is required; MS preferred, with EIT desirable. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering; MS preferred but not required.
• EIT certification strongly preferred but not required.
• Background in geotechnical engineering and earthquake engineering.
• Willing to perform field work and travel as needed.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio; GIS experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support senior staff on geotechnical projects and design tasks.
• Perform geotechnical modeling, analysis, and design calculations.
• Prepare design drawings and specifications using CAD tools.
• Prepare technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and field documentation.
• Assist with proposals and business development activities.
