Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks Practice Leaders in Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, Engineering and Civil Engineering for the Richmond or Charlottesville, Virginia area.

You will lead growth of engineering services, manage technical projects, and grow the practice while mentoring staff. Reporting to the Washington, DC area Branch Manager, you will drive client relationships, lead proposals for public and private RFPs, and collaborate with marketing to strengthen GEI’s market presence in

Qualifications

• Successful track record as a Seller-Doer with strong client relationships and business development capability.
• Senior Leader respected for technical capabilities and having strong risk and engineering contract management experience.
• Ability to identify and lead engineering project opportunities in the region.
• Collegial team builder with excellent leadership skills.
• Broad understanding of the Richmond area needs, opportunities, and emerging trends.
• Experience supervising/leading/mentoring and growing staff.
• Willing and able to travel between Richmond, Charlottesville, Washington, DC and Rockville, Maryland offices and client locations on an as-needed basis.
• Technical engineering experience in water resources, energy, and transportation sectors a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects both financially and technically.
• Identify and attract business development opportunities within practice; identify key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
• Lead proposal efforts responding to both public and private RFPs.
• Partner with marketing and others to develop GEI “branding” within practice.
• Enhance the professional development and skill set of staff within the practice and be a resource to them.
• Manage and mentor junior staff both technically and professionally.
• Actively participate in professional, industry, and policy groups to foster client relationships within the geotechincal engineering, water resources, and civil engineering practice/market.
• Ensure that GEI’s health and safety (H&S) culture and GEI’s quality processes are followed.
