Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Geostructural Group Leader to steer the geostructural engineering service line, drive revenue growth, and oversee project delivery. You will lead a team of engineers, manage client engagements, and ensure quality across designs, analyses, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years as an engineering consultant/designer in geostructural or geotechnical fields
  • Promotional path to ECS Associate Principal/Principal within 6 months
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Eng & Mgmt, Materials Science, Architectural Engineering, or Geology
  • Valid driver's license if driving for ECS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Advanced project management, consulting, and business development skills
  • Expert knowledge of geostructural systems (ground improvement, retaining walls, SOE, underpinning/dewatering, deep foundations)
  • Strong leadership and ability to build high-performing teams
  • Understanding of consulting operations, budgeting, and financial performance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the geostrustructural service line and oversee strategic planning
  • Oversee project delivery including technical design, calculations, and reporting
  • Review and approve project deliverables (plans, specs, analyses)
  • Evaluate contractor submittals (materials, procedures, testing)
  • Ensure high-quality technical execution across projects
  • Manage staffing, workload, and team performance
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the service line
  • Ensure compliance with QMS and company standards
  • Support geotechnical work during service line development
  • Prepare and review proposals, budgets, and project financials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

The Geostructural Group Leader is responsible for leading and growing the geostructural engineering service line, including strategic planning, technical delivery, and operational performance. This role oversees project execution, team development, and client engagement while driving revenue growth and service expansion. The Geostructural Group Leader serves as a senior technical leader and business developer while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

  • Develops and implements strategic business plans for the geostructural service line
  • Drives growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with contractors, clients, and industry partners
  • Leads and develops a team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Oversees project delivery, including technical design, calculations, and reporting
  • Reviews and approves project deliverables, including plans, specifications, and engineering analyses
  • Evaluates contractor submittals, including materials, procedures, and testing documentation
  • Ensures high-quality technical execution across all projects
  • Manages staffing, workload distribution, and team performance
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the service line
  • Ensures compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and company standards
  • Supports geotechnical project work as needed during service line development
  • Prepares and reviews proposals, budgets, and project financials
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of related experience as an engineering consultant/designer in the Geostructural or Geotechnical industry
  • Capable of meeting the promotion requirements of an ECS Associate Principal or Principal within 6 months of hire date
  • Bachelor of Science in any of the multi-disciplined Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Geology
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid drivers license is required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced project management, technical consulting, and business development skills
  • Expert knowledge of geostructural systems, including:
    • Ground improvement methods
    • Retaining wall design
    • Support of Excavation (SOE) systems
    • Underpinning and dewatering systems
    • Deep foundation systems (e.g., micropiles)
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of consulting operations, budgeting, and financial performance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment
Military Qualifications
  • The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education and license requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":
  • E-6/E-7/O-2/O-3

The expected pay range for this role and location is $150k - $190k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
