Job summary

Engineering Consulting Service seeks a Geostructural Group Leader to drive growth of the geostructural service line, provide senior technical leadership, and manage client engagements across projects.

You will mentor engineers, oversee design, calculations, and reporting, ensure quality management system compliance, and coordinate proposals, budgets, and operational performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or geotechnical-related field.
  • 10+ years of consulting/designer experience in geostructural/geotechnical industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet promotion requirements to Associate Principal or Principal within 6 months.

Job description

Responsibilities

The Geostructural Group Leader is responsible for leading and growing the geostructural engineering service line, including strategic planning, technical delivery, and operational performance. This role oversees project execution, team development, and client engagement while driving revenue growth and service expansion. The Geostructural Group Leader serves as a senior technical leader and business developer while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

  • Develops and implements strategic business plans for the geostructural service line
  • Drives growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with contractors, clients, and industry partners
  • Leads and develops a team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Oversees project delivery, including technical design, calculations, and reporting
  • Reviews and approves project deliverables, including plans, specifications, and engineering analyses
  • Evaluates contractor submittals, including materials, procedures, and testing documentation
  • Ensures high-quality technical execution across all projects
  • Manages staffing, workload distribution, and team performance
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the service line
  • Ensures compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and company standards
  • Supports geotechnical project work as needed during service line development
  • Prepares and reviews proposals, budgets, and project financials
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of related experience as an engineering consultant/designer in the Geostructural or Geotechnical industry
  • Capable of meeting the promotion requirements of an ECS Associate Principal or Principal within 6 months of hire date
  • Bachelor of Science in any of the multi-disciplined Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Geology
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid drivers license is required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced project management, technical consulting, and business development skills
  • Expert knowledge of geostructural systems, including:
    • Ground improvement methods
    • Retaining wall design
    • Support of Excavation (SOE) systems
    • Underpinning and dewatering systems
    • Deep foundation systems (e.g., micropiles)
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of consulting operations, budgeting, and financial performance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast
