Job summary

Schneider Geomatics in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Geospatial Survey Technician I to support surveying, mapping, and civil engineering projects. This role blends UAV/drone technology, LiDAR, photogrammetry, 3D scanning, data processing, and traditional field surveying.

You will operate survey equipment, collect and process geospatial data, create drawings and 3D models, and assist with data analysis while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; FAA Part 107 certification preferred.
• Experience with DJI and Trimble equipment; stereo compilation/extraction valued.
• Strong computer, communication and organizational skills; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate UAV, terrestrial scanning, GPS, Total Station and other survey equipment.
• Collect and process imagery, LiDAR, point clouds, and survey data.
• Perform stereo compilation, extraction, quality control, and data finishing.
• Create planimetric/topographic drawings and 3D surface models.
• Perform volumetric cut-and-fill calculations.
• Assist Surveyors with integrating and analyzing geospatial data.
• Maintain accurate field notes, survey data, and equipment; follow safety standards.

Schneider Geomatics is seeking a Geospatial Survey Technician I to support surveying, mapping, and civil engineering projects. This position combines UAV/drone technology, LiDAR, photogrammetry, 3D scanning, data processing, and traditional field surveying.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate UAV, terrestrial scanning, GPS, Total Station, and other survey equipment.
• Collect and process imagery, LiDAR, point clouds, and survey data.
• Perform stereo compilation, extraction, quality control, and data finishing.
• Create planimetric/topographic drawings and 3D surface models.
• Perform volumetric cut-and-fill calculations.
• Assist Surveyors with integrating and analyzing geospatial data.
• Maintain accurate field notes, survey data, and equipment.
• Follow all company safety and quality standards.

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• FAA Part 107 certification.
• Experience with DJI and Trimble equipment.
• Experience with stereo compilation/extraction.
• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geodetic Engineering, Geography, or related field.
• Experience with LiDAR, photogrammetry, aerial triangulation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Agisoft, Global Mapper, or Trimble Business Center.
• Interest in pursuing photogrammetrist or professional land surveyor certification.

This is a combination office and field position, typically working 40–45 hours per week. Field work includes outdoor work in varying weather, walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Local travel is required, with occasional overnight travel.
