Job Description

Geospatial technicians play a critical role in all the world’s most exciting and complex construction projects, applying geospatial expertise to solve real world engineering and environmental challenges. They can work on world-class projects, building hospitals, skyscrapers, renewable energy power plants, chemical plants, infrastructure, residential buildings or boring huge underground tunnels. Engineers use geospatial surveying to conduct accurate planning of extensive infrastructure development projects. Geospatial surveying exists as a forceful technology that produces detailed representations of the physical world

Duties Typically Include

• Carry out geospatial and land surveys on a variety of sites, both indoors and outdoors
• Use modern surveying and geospatial technologies, including GNSS, GIS, Total Stations, 3D laser scanners, 360° cameras, robotics and drones
• Produce 2D plans, elevation drawings, 3D models and digital survey outputs from collected data.
• Contribute geospatial data to projects involving flood risk, drainage and climate resilience, helping inform engineering solutions
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality procedures when working on site and in the office.
• Provide geospatial information to help clients identify project risks, including land constraints, site features and underground utility services
• Travel to and from client and project sites, working across a range of locations and environments.
• Communicate survey findings and technical information effectively with colleagues, clients and other project stakeholders.

Hybrid Role

This role involves a combination of office-based work and visits to construction sites, including walking around active sites and travelling between locations. K10 Apprenticeships will consider reasonable adjustments where possible to support individuals in carrying out the essential duties of the role.

Typical Working Week

40 hours p/w with start time between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Minimum Requirements

English, Maths & Science at GCSE Grade 4/5 or above.

Desired Requirements

It will be an advantage if you had previous work experience on site or a previous qualification relating to the role, also being confident in communication across different members of the team. Also beneficial having construction site experience.

Key Training/College Information

K10 will enrol you to the Level 3 Geospatial Surveying Technician course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider.

The apprenticeship duration is 24 months with additional 6 months for your EPA (End Point Assessment)
