Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Austin seeks a Geospatial Research Specialist to design and conduct advanced research on Medicaid/CHIP data, applying spatial analyses to health programs.

The role requires expertise in geospatial methods, SQL, and data visualization, with strong communication for reports to policy makers and external partners. Telework eligibility and a day shift support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in epidemiology, statistics, public health, data science, or related field.
• Four years’ experience with data acquisition, data collection, management, analyses, visualization and presentation of health and human services data or large datasets.
• Four years’ experience in writing queries and using statistical software (e.g. SAS or SPSS).
• Experience with collecting, managing, and analyzing geospatial data.

Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts advanced research and analysis projects for Medicaid/CHIP data.
• Develops information systems to support ongoing research and analyses.
• Creates maps and reports for diverse stakeholders including the Legislature and external customers.
• Leads and participates in meetings to establish research goals and requirements.
