Job summary

Metra seeks a GIS Analyst to manage spatial data development and support enterprise GIS needs across Engineering, Mechanical and Transit Operations. You will model GIS data, oversee deployment, and collaborate with IT to fulfill spatial data requests.

You will mentor staff, promote safe work practices, and help establish GIS governance standards to ensure accurate, compliant geospatial information assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, urban planning, engineering, environmental sciences or a related field; combination may substitute for four years in GIS.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in data modeling, application or database development, or GIS system implementation.
• Knowledge of GIS concepts, practices, and methodologies, spatial relationships and analyses techniques; mapping tools like ArcGIS or QGIS; coordinate systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage spatial data development: define requirements, model GIS data prototypes, oversee deployment and life cycle of assets.
• Provide technical support for data integration into enterprise applications and coordinate with IT and other departments.
• Mentor staff, ensure safe practices, and contribute to governance and standards for GIS data.
