Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a Field Technician to support geospatial and construction-phase projects in Raleigh, NC. You will identify marked utilities, operate field equipment including a vacuum truck, and help implement traffic control plans under supervision.

This role emphasizes outdoor work, driving responsibilities, and opportunities to grow through certifications and a structured development program.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license and pass MVR/background checks.
Willingness to travel for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to walk extended distances over uneven terrain while handling field gear.
Physically able to lift/carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and control points on plans and in the field.
Perform operator level maintenance on assigned tools and equipment.
Assist in implementing approved traffic control plans.
Advance through the certification program for advancement.
Record data of marked utilities, structures and control points in the field.
Operate vacuum truck and related tools and equipment.
Drive commercial motor vehicles.
Other tasks as assigned.
