Job summary

SAM is seeking a field crew member to support surveying and mapping operations across boundary, topographic, and construction layout projects. You will assist in field surveys under a Crew Chief, operating robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and 3D laser scanners to gather accurate geospatial data.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year of industry experience. You must be able to work outdoors year-round and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid, current driver’s license required.
  • One year industry experience.
  • Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and performance of basic survey types, computations, and field operations.
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
  • Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Use land survey instruments to support field crew for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Assist in completion of field surveys under supervision; communicate progress.
  • Operate land survey equipment (robotic total stations, GNSS, data radios, 3D scanners).
  • Utilize survey controllers/software to collect geospatial data and perform computations.
  • Read and interpret maps and plans.
  • Maintain neat field notes with accurate measurements under supervision.
  • Load/unload trucks with survey equipment and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and vehicle.
  • Follow company safety procedures and practices.
