Job summary

SAM in Brodheadsville, PA, seeks a capable field survey technician to support a field crew with data collection for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will operate robotic total stations, GNSS, and scanners, record accurate field notes, and load gear for daily operations.

You must have a high school diploma, a valid license, and at least one year of surveying experience; outdoor work year-round and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• One year industry experience.
• Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and basic computations.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
• Available to travel/stay out of town for work as needed.
• This is not a remote position, local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use a variety of land survey instruments to support a field crew gathering data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
• Assist in completion of field surveys under supervision of a Crew Chief; communicate progress and address problems.
• Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, and survey controllers.
• Utilize survey software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Read and interpret maps and plans.
• Record neat and orderly field notes with accurate measurements for land survey operations under supervision.
• Load and unload trucks with survey equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle.
• Follow company safety procedures and practices.
