Job summary

Riley Exploration Permian, Inc. seeks an experienced geoscience data scientist to support asset teams by managing subsurface datasets, developing scalable workflows, and applying AI/ML techniques to improve data quality and decision-making.

The role involves collaborating with geologists, engineers, and analytics resources to integrate diverse datasets, build dashboards, and automate recurring tasks, while maintaining project environments and ensuring data integrity in a fast-moving asset-team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geoscience, engineering, data science, computer science, information systems or related field preferred; equivalent petroleum industry experience considered.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in geoscience technical support, subsurface data management, or related oil and gas roles.
• Strong working knowledge of subsurface datasets and interpretation outputs.
• Experience with subsurface software like GeoGraphix, Petra, Petrel, Kingdom, StarSteer, Techlog, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high-quality subsurface datasets, project databases, and technical workflows used in exploration, development, and A&D evaluation.
• Load, validate, organize, and quality-control subsurface datasets and develop repeatable workflows.
• Maintain and improve geoscience project environments and tools with emphasis on data integrity and workflow efficiency.
• Integrate subsurface, operational, production, and commercial datasets into analytical workflows.
• Apply data science, automation, and AI/ML techniques to improve workflows and support decision-making.
• Develop data products, dashboards, and AI-enabled knowledge workflows for asset teams.
• Collaborate across geoscience, engineering, land, business development, and management teams.
