Job summary

Diamondback Energy is seeking an AI Product Owner for Geoscience and Reservoir to drive the AI product lifecycle from discovery to value realization. You will partner with AI Engineering & Delivery and subsurface teams to translate complex workflows into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.

This role demands domain knowledge in geoscience, reservoir engineering, and planning, plus experience delivering AI or analytics products in oil and gas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a Geoscience/Engineering/Data/Info Systems field.
• 5+ years supporting geoscience/reservoir/related oil & gas functions.
• Experience leading cross-functional technology or business transformation initiatives.
• Ability to translate workflows into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.
• Experience with subsurface data and analytics tools (e.g., Kingdom, Petrel, SQL, Python).
• Experience delivering AI, ML, or analytics products from concept through adoption.

Responsibilities

• Partner with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and stakeholders to identify AI opportunities based on business value, feasibility, and data readiness.
• Own problem definition, vision, roadmap, success measures, and outcomes; establish baseline performance.
• Lead discovery using rapid prototypes, simulations, data exploration, user testing, and lightweight experiments.
• Translate business needs into product requirements, user stories, and AI quality expectations.
• Manage backlog, prioritize scope, and conduct validation and acceptance activities.
• Collaborate with technology, data, security, governance, legal, and risk teams for compliant solutions.
• Represent stakeholder needs and coordinate cross-functional dependencies with Production, Operations, and asset teams.
• Monitor post-launch performance and drive continuous improvement based on adoption, AI performance, and value.
