Job summary

The Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS), a unit of the University of Kentucky, is seeking a temporary Geoscience Data Analyst in Lexington to analyze and process geospatial data related to karst features and sinkholes, and to prepare maps and diagrams.

You will work with the Hydrogeology and Karst Team, summarize findings, and participate in field activities as needed, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or related field required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or related field.
  • Experience with ArcGIS.
  • Ability to analyze geospatial data and create maps.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process geospatial data related to karst and sinkholes.
  • Prepare maps and diagrams; summarize data analysis results.
  • Collaborate with Hydrogeology and Karst Team to evaluate karst and sinkhole susceptibility and risk.
  • Conduct geological field work.

Geoscience Data Analyst - Temporary

Location: Lexington, KY

Salary: $27.00 - $30.00 /hour

Contract Type: Temporary

Position Time Status: Full-Time

Shift: Monday- Friday 8-5pm

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or related field

Related Experience: ArcGIS

License/Registration/Certification: Valid driver’s license for at least 5 years

Physical Requirements: Standing or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive computer work. Occasional field work for site visits which require hiking on rough terrain.

Job Summary

The Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS), a publicly supported research center within the University of Kentucky (UK), is recruiting a temporary geoscience data analyst employee. Key position responsibilities include: analyzing and processing geospatial data related to karst and sinkholes, preparing maps and diagrams; and summarizing data analysis results. This position will work with the Hydrogeology and Karst Team to assist in evaluating Kentucky’s karst and sinkhole susceptibility and risk. Tasks will also include geological field work and collaboration with other Teams in KGS.
