Job summary

Baptist Health Clinical Lab is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for PRN I Third Shift in Georgetown, KY. The role focuses on maintaining technical competency, LIS operations, specimen evaluation, and issue resolution to ensure accurate test results and patient care.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s degree with certification eligibility and complete CLS certification within one year, contributing to a precise, patient-centered laboratory workflow.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science.
• Clinical Laboratory Science Certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.
• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Uses complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
