Job summary

Occidental Petroleum Corporation is offering a Geophysics Intern position in Houston, The Woodlands, and Denver for a 12-week summer program. You’ll work with seismic data, build depth maps, and gain exposure to core oil and gas operations with mentorship and hands-on projects.

You’ll learn to use interpretation software, analyze well data, and prepare final presentations using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, while experiencing a structured training plan and leadership interaction.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s Degree or PhD in Geophysics or Geology with a geophysical focus.
• Must have graduation date between August 2027 and May 2029.
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.85 on a 4.0 scale.
• Desire to pursue a career as a Geophysicist in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Responsibilities

• Gain understanding of Occidental and the Oil and Gas Business.
• Learn how to use seismic interpretation software to interpret 2D/3D seismic data and exploration, appraisal, or development scale.
• Produce depth maps, amplitudes extractions, isopach maps, and fault attributes to identify drilling opportunities.
• Present final recommendations based on technical work.
