Job description

Geomodeller (Conventional / Deepwater)

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Job Overview

The Senior Conventional / Deepwater Geomodeler builds and maintains integrated 3D geological models to characterize reservoir architecture, quality, connectivity, fluid distribution, and hydrocarbon volumes. The role integrates seismic, well, petrophysical, geological, pressure, and production data to support appraisal, well planning, reservoir simulation, reserves assessment, and field-development optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Build fit-for-purpose structural, stratigraphic, facies, and petrophysical models for conventional offshore and deepwater reservoirs.
  • Integrate seismic interpretation and attributes, well logs, core, pressure, fluid, and production data into consistent reservoir models.
  • Characterize deepwater depositional systems, reservoir quality, heterogeneity, fault and stratigraphic connectivity, compartmentalization, and fluid contacts.
  • Generate deterministic and probabilistic hydrocarbon volumes and multiple realizations covering key structural, property, connectivity, and contact uncertainties.
  • Provide appropriately scaled models for reservoir simulation, production forecasting, depletion planning, and water or gas injection studies.
  • Support appraisal and development-well planning, including well location, trajectory, target selection, and pre-drill uncertainty assessment.
  • Update models using new well and surveillance data to identify reservoir communication, sweep efficiency, bypassed hydrocarbons, and infill opportunities.
  • Maintain model quality, documentation, version control, and clear communication of assumptions, uncertainties, and business implications.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in geology, geophysics, petroleum geoscience, geological engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of oil and gas experience, including significant conventional geomodelling and offshore or deepwater development experience.
  • Advanced capability in structural framework construction, stratigraphic and facies modelling, property modelling, volumetrics, geostatistics, uncertainty analysis, and upscaling.
  • Strong knowledge of deepwater sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, petrophysics, and reservoir characterization.
  • Proficiency with Petrel and other geomodelling software.
  • Strong integration, analytical, quality-control, collaboration, and technical-communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience modelling deepwater turbidite channels, lobes, basin-floor fans, or structurally complex reservoirs.
  • Experience supporting projects from appraisal and concept selection through development drilling and production optimization.
  • Knowledge of quantitative seismic interpretation, rock physics, depth conversion, fault transmissibility, and reservoir connectivity.
  • Familiarity with reservoir simulation, history matching, well-test interpretation, production surveillance, and 4D seismic.
  • Understanding of deepwater development constraints, including limited well control, high well costs, subsea architecture, facility limitations, and flow assurance.
  • Experience with Python, data analytics, and automated modelling workflows is advantageous.
