Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Bagdad, AZ is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to support open pit mine development and slope stability projects. You will work with a team of engineers and site personnel to analyze geotechnical data and contribute to safe mining practices today and in the future.

The role offers visa sponsorship consideration and requires the ability to collaborate with consultants, planners, and field teams to deliver reliable slope stability insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering and 3+ years of engineering experience in mining/geotechnical fields.
• Masters degree in Engineering with 2+ years of related experience may replace experience.
• Knowledge of mining, mining engineering and geotechnical applications in hard rock open pit environments.
• Experience with MS Office and AutoCAD; ability to analyze geotechnical data.
• Strong written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage engineering projects in a hard rock open pit setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in geotechnical project oversight and review with consultants and mine planning.
• Assist slope stability data collection, analysis and monitoring.
• Communicate accurate slope stability and geotechnical information to site personnel.
• Assist inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and access roads.
• Identify safety improvements related to slope monitoring and blasting.
